Bangladesh Cyclone Shelter

Selected as one of four semi-finalists for an international competition, Kava Massih Architects was invited by the project organizers, Service Civil International, to visit Bangladesh. Senior Associate, Mark Schlientz flew to Dhaka in late March of 2011 and, along with the other competitors and SCI volunteers, traveled South to the project location. After a week-long trip that included meetings with the end users, government officials and other NGO’s, the four design teams were given two months to further develop their schemes. The winning designer will work with a preselected Bangladeshi architect to develop a set of working drawings and then oversee the shelter construction.
