Originally built in 1917 for the Air Reduction Company of California, an early oxygen manufacturer, 1550 Park Avenue is a 2- story masonry structure. The renovations include a seismic upgrade consisting primarily of new steel brace frames inside the existing structure and reinstating some original windows that have been bricked over the years. We are also adding 1,150 square feet of additional 2nd floor space as well as a small roof deck on the northwest corner of the building with views of the bay. This space is being developed for use by Anvil Builders and the interior space will provide offices, meeting spaces, and storage. We will preserve and expose the original brick and concrete structure of the building while reusing as much existing elements available.
