Our firm converted this former bank in downtown Berkeley into 25,000 square feet of classrooms, conference rooms, computer labs, and administrative offices. We completely redesigned the building’s outdated interior and exterior, added two floors, and brought it up to code. It is located at the apex of two main diagonal arteries, and our design is reminiscent of buildings that were created to fit these triangular, flatiron sites at key intersections. However, rather than mimicking this older style of architecture, we accommodated the traditions of flatiron sites, emphasizing the verticality of the building, while rounding its corners.
