Cei pace center concord
Location: Concord, CA
Owner: Center for Elders’ Independence (CEI)
Completion: December 2020
Center for Elders’ Independence is a non-profit organization serving seniors since 1992. They are a premier provider of the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides integrated health care and social services for the elderly.
Looking to expand into Contra Costa County, CEI purchased two adjacent commercial office buildings in Concord for their most recent PACE Center to provide a senior activity center and clinic. Offering full PACE services, the building configuration naturally lends itself to a separation of the Day center and Clinic spaces, while maintaining convenient proximity to each other. The program is organized into the two existing buildings totaling over 16,000 square feet. The project also required improvements to existing tenant spaces and interior building upgrades.
The clinical building includes an OSHPD3 outpatient clinic with 5 exam rooms and a treatment room arranged around a central nurse station. The building also features the PT / OT rehab gym and behavioral health and administration spaces. Across the atrium, the day center building provides seniors with a demo kitchen, dining, activity spaces, lounge, and other shared spaces. Leaving the spaces open allows for a natural flow from one activity to the next. A fully enclosed courtyard adjacent to the main dining activity room gives the participants access to fresh air and sunshine.
