Santen Pharmaceutical Co., headquartered in Osaka, Japan is a leading global opthamalic and rheumatologic pharmaceutical company with operations in 19 countries. We provided them with programming, planning and interior design services for their new 34,000 sq ft office. Their new Bay Area headquarters is located at the Hollis Business Center, a 225,500 sq ft former warehouse that Kava Massih Architects had previously renovated for office use in 2001.

Santen’s new office provides 177 open work stations plus a series of varying sized meeting spaces from small office-size breakout rooms up to large training spaces. Along with offices and workstations allowing for future growth, we provided casual meeting spaces, quiet rooms for phone calls and small meetings, plus ergonomic and standing work stations. Natural light is brought into the space though numerous skylights. The main entry lobby has a large stepped seating platform connected to an existing mezzanine to function as an all hands meeting space. Included in the design are several kitchen/cafe spaces as well as other informal lounge spaces for staff to gather and work collaboratively.
