Providence Senior Housing
Location: San Francisco, CA
Developer: Christian Church Homes
Owner: Providence Foundation
Completion: September 2007
This urban in-fill project provides 50 units of low income senior housing in the Bayview District of San Francisco. With the concept of "aging-in-place" all 50 units are convertible for handicapped accessibility, including kitchen counters that can be lowered, bathrooms with grab bars and an emergency call system. The design includes classrooms and computer labs, administrative offices for Providence Foundation staff, space for on-site social services programs, and a roof garden for residents. All residents have access to shared amenities such as a large exterior courtyard, an interior community room off of the main lobby and laundry facilities. The project also provides ground-floor space to be used by the owner, the Providence Foundation, for community programs such as job training and after-school programs.
