Oak Street Terrace

This five-story, 26,000 square foot affordable senior housing project is located in a downtown urban setting. The first floor contains a lobby, office space, and community room with kitchen. Upper floors have 38 efficiency apartments and a one-bedroom apartment connected to an office for the building manager. The project also includes rooftop deck with a view of the Oakland Museum’s sculpture garden and Lake Merritt.

Our design maximizes the use of natural light. Bay windows in every unit provide an abundance of natural light. All units are organized around an interior courtyard to provide natural light at entries. A floor to ceiling glass tower element in the main entry lobby and community room, provides natural light and dramatic views. A photo-voltaic solar system on the roof creates electricity for common area lighting. Other sustainable design features include: engineered lumber, linoleum flooring, carpeting with recycled content, low-flush toilets and low-flow faucets, Energy-Star appliances, and all fluorescent lighting.
