2150 kittredge street

We are working with East Beach Capital on the design of new 165-unit housing project at the corner of Kittredge and Oxford Way in Berkeley just across the street from the UC Berkeley campus. The seven-story project is a combination of five floors of wood framed construction over two floors of concrete with a basement level parking garage.

Our design is very much rooted in traditional design patterns of downtown Berkeley, with deep-set punched windows and tall retail ground floor space, while at the same time incorporating gestures and materials that are modern and current. We are also attempting in the design to respond the historic Oddfellows Building at the corner of Bancroft and Oxford Way with the introduction of quiet section of façade that acts as bridge between it and our building. The unusually shaped site actually brackets the Oddfellows building on two sides.

The project has several distinct courtyards at the 3rd floor level that allow light and ventilation into internal units. At the roof level is a large roof deck with views of San Francisco and the UC Berkeley Campus. The units will be a mix of studio, one and two bedroom apartments geared towards as general rental market.
