3103 SE Division Street, Portland, OR
Location: Portland, OR
Developer: Urban Development
Completion: August 2010
An existing single-story, 100 by 100 foot concrete block and heavy timber “Reliable Parts” appliance store provided the bones for this mixed-use development in Portland’s latest “it” neighborhood on South East Division Street. This mixed-use building is comprised of ground-floor commercial space, residential units, and a terraced area accessible to tenants. By opening the West and South Street elevations at the ground floor and cantilevering new residential units above, we created a distinctive and dramatic new addition to the neighborhood. Duplex units with double-height window walls, alternating with single-story units characterize the elevation. A continuous second floor terrace, accessible to residents, opens the units to natural light and generous air flow. Red Cedar siding and galvanized steel railings provide rich texture to the building’s volumes. The new building responds and contributes to the surrounding neighborhood architecture and provides a destination for contemporary dining and retail experiences.
This project was awarded LEED Gold status by the U.S. Green Building Council.
