bullseye glass alameda
Location: Alameda, CA
Owner: Bullseye Glass
Completion: Fall 2023
Bullseye Glass is a Portland-based company that sells colored glass and glass forging equipment to artisans and makers. In addition, they provide instruction in techniques for manipulating glass to artists and lay-people alike. In 2011 we designed their first Bay Area store for them on Hollis Street in Emeryville. In 2021 they purchased a building in nearby Alameda and asked us to help them convert it into their new Bay Area location. The building at 1911 Park Street, an 8,000 s.f. auto-body shop, had perimeter masonry walls with wood framed roof and interior construction. The primary space was a high-bay with a partial 2nd floor adjacent to the street; this is where we placed the store. In a second lower wing of the building at the rear of the parking lot we converted three existing car bays into an studio for instruction. We left the wood roof structure exposed and whitewashed the interior to highlight the glass products. The space is lit by refurbished overhead skylights. The project was completed in the Fall of 2023.
