Sliver
Location: Emeryville, CA
Completion: Unbuilt
The vision for Sliver is to create a new architecture that blends into the city conceptually and physically. A technologically advanced building, Sliver extrudes from its 300- by 20-foot site. Railway tracks and Bay Street border the narrow parcel locally, and the San Francisco Bay and the Berkeley Hills provide a regional boundary. The unusually thin floor plan metaphorically resembles the economy of space traditionally found in airplanes, boats, and cars. Contained within Sliver’s transparent walls are 46,000 square-feet of mixed-use space, including one floor of retail, three floors of office, and three floors of residential. The required 85 parking spaces will be housed in an adjacent parking structure with four handicapped parking spaces at on the ground level of Sliver. Two stair towers and one elevator core anchor the building.
